Why subscribe? Just to stroke my ego?
Every subscription is a shot of dopamine to my brain! What do you get out of it?
If you’re on this site, you probably are concerned about current events. You want to change the world for the better, but you’re unsure how, and you’re frustrated over having so little voice. That’s how I feel, and I don’t have the answers, but I’m willing to look for them with you. Whatever we decide to do, we should be well-informed and have a constructive philosophy of engagement.
I started out studying to be a primatologist, and I retired as a law professor specializing in conflict resolution. Here’s my CV if you’re interested. I’m stepping out of my retirement to do this because, if we continue down our current course, the damage could be irreparable. Right now, the best way I can contribute constructively is to share what I know from my experience.
My goal is to explore alternative ways to think about the news and how to respond in the context of “truth and reconciliation.” I won’t regurgitate the news. Instead, I want to collaborate with you to create a forum exploring constructive ways to pick up the pieces and resume the social cooperation necessary to face not only your crazy uncle at Thanksgiving dinner but more importantly the existential crises we share as homo sapiens.
Give it a shot and give me a shot…of dopamine.
